Hello!
In this post, I will continue the discussion on Carbon Black, following the previous topic on Carbon Black N330.
While N330 is used in products like plastics and tires, I will now talk about the N220 product—its uses and characteristics.
Carbon Black N220
Carbon Black N220 is one of the industrial-grade carbon blacks, primarily used in the rubber industry, especially in tires. This material consists of fine carbon particles and plays a crucial role in enhancing the durability and performance of rubber in various applications.
The number in Carbon Black N220 relates to the particle size of the carbon black. The smaller the number, the smaller the particle size, and the smaller the particles, the higher the wear resistance and hardness of the rubber.
For example, N100 series has very small particles, resulting in excellent wear resistance and hardness, while N300 series has larger particles, offering better dispersion and suitability for general applications.
The N220 grade, which I am introducing here, has relatively small particles. It boasts excellent wear resistance and heat resistance, making it ideal for high-performance tires and industrial rubber products.
Therefore, Carbon Black N220 refers to a grade with relatively small particles, suitable for normal curing, and is used in applications where durability and wear resistance are crucial.
Major Applications of Carbon Black N220
1. High-Performance Tire Treads:
-N220 is used in the tread areas of sports car or racing tires, providing high wear resistance and durability.
-It helps maintain durability on high-friction roads and enhances stability and grip during high-speed driving.
2. Industrial Rubber Components:
-Used in industrial products such as conveyor belts and high-strength rubber hoses, where wear resistance is essential.
-Reinforced to ensure long-lasting performance in harsh environments, such as factories and mines, without wear or damage.
3. Other Wear-Resistant Products:
-Used in treadmill belts, high-friction components, and rubber seals.
-Also used in rubber components of sports equipment and agricultural machinery, where long lifespan and durability are required.
In summary, N220 is used in rubber products where wear resistance and heat resistance are especially important. Its characteristics are highly effective in high-performance tires, industrial rubber components, and other applications requiring durability.
Difference between N220 and N330
1. Particle Size
-N220: N220 has smaller particles compared to N330. Smaller particles increase the surface area, improving the bonding with rubber, thus enhancing wear resistance and hardness.
-N330: N330 has larger particles than N220, which results in better dispersion and easier manufacturing processes. The larger particles make the product more flexible and easier to process, allowing for a wider range of applications.
2. Wear Resistance
-N220: N220 has high wear resistance, making it ideal for rubber products subjected to high friction, such as high-performance tire treads that require excellent wear resistance.
-N330: N330 also offers good wear resistance but is lower than N220. However, it provides a better balance between wear resistance and other properties, making it widely used in standard tire treads, sidewalls, and other applications.
3. Hardness, Flexibility
-N220: N220 has high hardness and wear resistance but may offer relatively lower flexibility in rubber.
-N330: N330 is more flexible, making it suitable for various parts of tires. It is especially effective in areas like the sidewall, where rubber flexibility is important.
4. Primary Uses
-N220: Used in high-performance tires and industrial rubber products where wear resistance is critical.
-N330: With a balanced combination of durability and dispersion, N330 is widely used in general tires and various rubber products. It is particularly standard in the treads and sidewalls of passenger car and commercial vehicle tires.
In summary, the N220 product is used in high-performance applications, such as tire treads, due to its excellent wear resistance and heat resistance. The N330 product, on the other hand, has a balanced combination of durability, flexibility, and dispersion, making it the most common grade used in various tire products. It is also widely used in rubber products.
